With a background in engineering and a unique talent for glass blowing, Uri has fused his passion for technology and art in his work. Uri’s work is methodical and intriguing blurring the lines between mechanics and creativity. Awarded a travelling scholarship from Cleveland Institute of Art, Uri travelled to Australia and then to NZ where he has worked with renowned glass artists Luke Jacomb and Gaffer. He has joined the art collective at Cross Street Studios where he is experimenting with raw glass, collaborating with other artists and exhibiting his work. Opening for Real Gallery down in Wellington in October 2009, Uri is all over the show. Word of glass monkeys and installations is what Uri is thinking for First Thursdays on 3rd December!
