Grant and Kasha teach Argentine Tango at City Dance Recreational Dance Studio.
Grant has been teaching Social Tango since 2005. His first love was for traditional and modern tango music. He performed in the ‘Mi Dolor’ Tango dance troop in 2006, has been a finalist in several National Tango Championships, placing 3rd in NZ in 2007. He and his wife Karyn have been featured in an article about Tango in NZ in the NZ Herald. Grant featured in the Argentine TV Channel ‘Solo Tango’ along with NZ’s Antoinette Wilson and other tangueros, advertising the famous ‘Sunderland’ milonga in Buenos Aires.
He is a director in the Auckland based TangoClub group, and is also a well known Auckland Tango DJ. He teaches in Auckland, Nelson and at the annual Auckland Tango ‘Congresso’ festival.
He is most heavily influenced by Fabritzio Forte, and also Maria Plazaola from the La Academia Tango School at El Beso, B.A.
In his classes he believes in the practical application of theory, and in learning by doing.
Kasha is the founder of Wanaka based dance studio 'K DANCE'. She was trained in Russian classical ballet technique since she was 8 years old. She joined a contemporise dance company at age 12, and toured and performed throughout Europe over a 7 year period. She has a passion for Tango and Flamenco, and has studied with and been influenced by Fabrizio Forte, Geraldine Rojas, Alejandra Martinian, and Milena Plebs. |
